Atomic Gaming is a veteran founded tabletop game & comic book retailer with 3 stores across the Greater Houston Area. Our stores are quickly growing and we aim to open additional stores in the short term!

We carry a wide variety of singles and products for Trading Card Games (Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Lorcana, etc.), Tabletop Miniature Wargames (Warhammer 40/AOS/Horus Heresy, Star Wars Legion, etc.), Tabletop Roleplaying Games (Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, Vampire the Masquerade, etc), and a wide range of Comic Books!

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Game Store Manager to lead the daily operations of our store. This individual will be responsible for hiring and training team members, managing inventory and product orders, scheduling shifts, organizing in-store events, and overseeing payroll. The ideal candidate will be a passionate and knowledgeable leader with a strong background in retail management and a deep understanding of gaming culture—including tabletop games, video games, collectibles, and accessories.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of retail or store management experience, preferably in a gaming, hobby, or specialty retail environment.
  • Strong knowledge of trading card games, tabletop wargame miniature games, tabletop role playing games, comic books, and pop culture merchandise.
  • Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate a team.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Experience with scheduling software and point-of-sale systems. (Payroll management experience is a plus.)
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and event nights as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, hire, and onboard new team members.
  • Train staff on product knowledge, customer service, and store operations.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
  • Foster a positive and engaging work environment.
  • Lead weekly to bi-weekly team meetings to assess store-wide changes and performance evaluations.

Operations & Inventory

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of current and upcoming products in various gaming categories.
  • Monitor inventory levels and place timely product orders to ensure optimal stock.
  • Maintain organized and visually appealing merchandise displays.
  • Coordinate with the Purchasing Manager, vendors and distributors for new releases and special orders.

Scheduling & Payroll

  • Create and manage weekly team schedules based on store needs and events.
  • Track attendance, time off, and shift coverage.
  • Process and manage payroll in a timely and accurate manner.

Events & Community Engagement

  • Plan and execute in-store gaming events, tournaments, and promotional activities.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Coordinator to create an event calendar and promote events via social media, email, and in-store signage.
  • Build strong relationships with the local gaming community and encourage repeat business.
  • Create event reports detailing entry, judge support, prize support, and product costs to determine cost efficiency of various events, adjusting as required.

Customer Service

  • Ensure excellent customer service standards are consistently met.
  • Resolve customer issues and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Act as a brand ambassador and role model for the team.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical ability for standing, sitting, crouching, kneeling, frequent walking, reaching above head and below waist, and standing on a ladder.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (ie. product boxes, snack cases)

Additional Information

  • Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including opening and closing shifts. Store hours are 12pm-12am and occasionally 10am-12am for special events. Highly preferring at least one day each week on a Friday or Saturday.
  • Must be able to attend a few offsite events/conventions throughout the year.
  • Must be able to attend weekly meetings outside of normal store hours (often at 10am)

We are seeking D&D Game Masters to aid us in running our Summer Camps this year! We have 3 locations currently so please let us know which locations would be best for you!

Job Summary
Join our vibrant summer camp team as a Children's D&D Game Master, where your creativity and leadership will ignite young imaginations! In this dynamic role, you will facilitate engaging Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) game sessions tailored for children, fostering teamwork, problem-solving, and storytelling skills. Your enthusiasm and expertise will create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment that encourages children to explore their creativity while developing essential social and cognitive abilities. This paid position offers a fantastic opportunity to combine your passion for gaming, education, and working with children into an unforgettable summer experience.

Each Summer Camp will be 1 week long, Monday through Friday from 1pm-5pm for age groups of 8-12 or 13-17 depending on the week. For many children this will likely be their first time playing D&D, but some children will be returning from previous years or may return for another week long campaign at a later point during the summer. For the campaign to fire at least 2 children must be registered for that week. If only 1 child is scheduled we will reschedule them for a future week.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate age-appropriate D&D game sessions, guiding children through adventures that promote imagination, collaboration, and critical thinking
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere where all children feel comfortable participating and expressing themselves
  • Manage group dynamics with effective classroom management techniques to ensure positive interactions and behavior management
  • Ensure the safety of all participants by adhering to store safety protocols and maintaining supervision during activities
  • Provide clear instructions, support storytelling elements, and adapt gameplay to suit different age groups and skill levels
  • Maintain organized records of game progress and participant engagement throughout the camp session

Experience

  • Prior experience working with children in educational, childcare, or camp settings is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of Dungeons & Dragons or similar tabletop role-playing games is essential; experience in game mastering or storytelling is a plus
  • Strong classroom management skills to handle group activities effectively and foster a positive environment
  • Background in teaching, tutoring, or early childhood education to support developmental needs of young campers is preferred.
  • Experience in theater or acting can enhance storytelling capabilities and engagement with children
  • Familiarity with behavior management techniques and childhood development principles to support diverse needs

Job Description
